The primary definition of a bed and breakfast describes an establishment that offers overnight accommodation and a breakfast in the morning. The morning meal is usually the only one served at these establishments.
A B&B – as it is frequently called – is usually a home to the person or family offering accommodation to guests. The private home consists of a larger house with a few rooms to spare, and the number can differ from one, two and can even go up to ten rooms, depending on dimension of the house.
A bed and breakfast is usually operated by someone who has obtained a diploma after finishing studies in tourism and management that offers the necessary comprehension to start and maintain a successful business. This is the case especially if the B&B represents the primary source of income. If this is not the case, the owner can run an establishment without the requirement of a diploma, but with all legal actions taken to make sure everything is in order.
B&Bs have a small number of rooms where guests can be accommodated. Rooms differ by establishment. For instance, some have bathrooms in every room, others have one per floor or suite and others may have a common restroom for all the guests.
